Hurricane Ian destroyed Star of Orion on September 28, 2022. Although perfectly prepared for a major hurricane, the epic storm surge of 15’+ was too much for the dock system to handle. Although sunk in the shallows of the bay, she was still tied to her finger docks with sails secured and ready for her busy fall/winter season only days away.

“I’ve always said, a ship isn’t just a ship. It’s a vessel of dreams. An escape capsule. A time machine.”
Star of Orion was every one of those.. not just for us but for over 15,000 charter guests over a span of nearly 14 years and easily over 100,000 nautical miles. She showcased the art of sailing, kept everyone safe, always brought us home, and changed the lives of not only Capt Dan and Dianne but all who sailed upon her. She was a staple of Fort Myers Beach. During her time, she sailed the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Keys, the Dry Tortugas, the Bahamas, and northern Caribbean. As part of the circle of life, she welcomed newborns aboard and also scattered the ashes of loved ones upon the sea. She welcomed all.
We felt it our duty to buy a sister ship, from the same mold, and name her “Orion’s Child” as a tribute.
