Captain Dan
Capt. Dan holds a USCG Master Merchant Mariner Certificate (Captain’s License) with Sailing endorsement since 2009. Before moving to Fort Myers, he was a local truck driver logging over 1 million miles from age 19-32 driving “every kinda rig that’s ever been made” (Little Feat song ‘Willin’). Growing up in Northeast Ohio, Dan and his family enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and other inland lakes. Dan and Dianne, high school sweethearts since 1994, found their love for sailing after attaching a sailing rig to a 14′ canoe. As self taught sailors, they immediately started buying and sailing bigger boats until the opportunity knocked in 2009 to buy Magic Wind Adventure Sailing during a visit to Fort Myers. They sold their beloved Ohio home which they built together, Dan completed Captain’s School, they quit their jobs, and the pair moved to Fort Myers in late 2009. Their love of sailing continues. Dan’s favorite activity is waking Dianne up.
Captain Dianne
Capt. Dianne holds an USCG Merchant Mariner OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels) “Captains license” since 2024. Prior to owning a charter boat with Dan, Dianne acquired an ICTA Travel Career Development Certificate (travel agent) in 1997 and began working with Continental Airlines (now United Airlines) at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport for 13 years. Before moving to Fort Myers in 2009 to take over Magic Wind Adventure Sailing with Dan, she was the Assistant to the Director of Ground Operations for Continental Airlines. For the first 3+ years in Fort Myers, Dianne gained valuable knowledge of Sanibel Island and the surrounding area while working as a reservationist for Sanibel Moorings Condominium Resort on island. In 2013, she started managing the couples second business, Jet Boat Fun, for 2 years before they sold that boat in order to focus solely on the sailing business as a husband and wife dual captain team. Growing up in Northeast Ohio, Dianne always had a passion for the water…either in it or on it. Her favorite activities are sleeping and vacuuming.
Our Mission
To showcase the art of sailing. To treat the sea and each customer with dignity and respect with safety as our #1 concern. The sea treats everyone equal…. as do we.
We do this full time and this is our livelihood year round. Many other operators are seasonal, retired, or owners just trying to pay for their personal expenses of owning a boat. Our vessel is documented and registered under our business’s LLC and used solely for business operation. Many have multiple paid Captains who do not have the same expectations of quality that us as owner/operators have. We take your satisfaction personally.
